| Customer Reviews: Great price on black diamonds! August 31, 2010 C. Gates (Lake Oswego, OR USA) I was so thrilled when I found these .50cttw black diamond studs, especially at such a great price. They are very comfortable, the rose-cut makes a great shine, and I highly recommend them. I've been looking for black diamond studs on JTV and HSN, but they sold at a much higher price for the same white gold and the same size diamonds. Give these a try. I wear mine a lot!
Snake Girl August 18, 2010 Snake Girl These black diamond earrings are just what I wanted and expected. So much so that I've ordered a couple of more
sets for presents for my friends. Some reviewers complain about how small a product is. I feel that is because they
don't read the measurements. These studs go beautifully with other studs I have (because I have six pierced holes
in my ears and some times need to buy smaller studs). These lovely sparkling black diamonds are set off perfectly
by the white gold rose-cut border. I am very pleased with them, and for that price I can give my friends the joy of
black diamonds, just as I have discovered their joy.
Lab created diamonds... August 6, 2010 autumbaby44 (Eugene, OR) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I ordered these on Sunday, they arrived on Wens. They are very pretty and sparkly for sure. However..I took them to a jeweler after work. They tested as Lab-created (moissenite) diamonds...
I think I will keep them as they are in a beautiful setting. I would not have pd. over $40 for them.
Petite Black Diamonds and Gold July 27, 2010 Trend 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I really like these earring. Very simple. The stones are opaque, but not as deep in color as Black Onyx. There is a definite difference in the color. For sure, these are black, but they cast off a glow when the light plays over the stones. The stones take on an interesting iridescent black color. No matter how much faceted onyx may sparkle, it is black to it's depths. The depths of these stones are clear. These are not as shiny as white or lighter colored diamonds, but they do sparkle and have fire with light play. The white gold setting is attractive and adds to the style of the earrings. The diamonds are sitting in little cups of gold and the gold border is smoother, more refined looking than photographed. They are petite earrings.
I know nothing about black diamonds, I did a little research. They are very fashion forward, on trend. The black diamond is dense, they appear smaller than a white diamond of the the same carat weight. This 1/2cttw pair appears to be 1/3cttw...using a white diamond for comparison. Most black diamonds are treated in a process that involves very high heat. The black diamonds are just as hard as their white cousins. They are not graded using the 4C's It appears they are graded by letters...A,B,C, etc. They are much less expensive than white diamonds and they have their own unique beauty.
Previously, I had never seen a black diamond. These were an inexpensive way to try them. Now, I want larger carat weight black diamonds. I'm really liking these stones.
UPDATE: Lab created diamonds? Fine by me. I'm glad to have them. These earrings have beautiful stones. They are perfectly and uniformly matched, with a good amount of solid gold. Heck, with the price of gold(about 1,300.) an ounce, that alone makes these earrings a good deal. My fellow reviewer said she didn't return them. I know she didn't, after one look at these well made beauties....bet she getting the same compliments I am; "those are beautiful earrings"
Since I purchased these, I have shopped for black diamonds. What I found...most manufacturers irradiate white diamonds that are extremely flawed (usually much less than an I3 clarity rating). They're flawed with carbon, graphite, cracks and feathering. The high heat turns them black or graphite grey or very dark green. Those colors all fall under the black diamond rainbow.
They are porous and hard to cut. That is why many have so few facets. Most have large(in relation to their size) flat surfaces, not this nice rose cut. Black is a forgiving color. The flaws don't necessarily affect their beauty, but treated black diamonds are quite flawed. If the diamonds were still white...most, wouldn't wear it as jewelry. You've heard of "diamond tipped drills"? Yep, that's were the ugly ones go, except now with the color change, they're sold as jewelry. Natural black diamonds as perfectly matched as these are extremely rare and very, very expensive.
These earrings are more beautiful than any irradiated, white to black, diamond I've seen and now, I've seen many. I saw some pretty ones, but all had some visual defects and definitely seen defects under magnification. None of the earrings I saw had truly matched stones. Don't get me wrong, I like 'em. I bought a pair, they are highly reflective and...so are these...Gorgeous, petite, earrings and for their size, they have a lot of solid gold. Don't miss out on this beautiful pair of black "diamond" earrings.
